Annual MLK Day of Service with PCW at Capital Area Food Bank

When: Saturday, January 25th, 2025--volunteer with 9am-12pm session; please arrive at volunteer center by 8:45am.
Where: Capital Area Food Bank, 4900 Puerto Rico Avenue, NE, Washington, DC, 20017 (if using GPS, navigate to 4900 6th Street, NE)
Transportation & Parking: Capital Area Food Bank is located in a residential area near Fort Totten, DC. If arriving by car, follow the rectangular orange signs all the way to the back of the building. The volunteer center entrance is separate from the main entrance. There is ample parking. For those using public transportation, Capital Area Food Bank offers a free shuttle from the Brookland/CUA and Fort Totten WMATA stations. Please see here for more shuttle information.
More information & activities for the day: The Capital Area Food Bank leads our region's efforts to provide equitable access to food and opportunity to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Volunteers sort and pack donated food items that are distributed to communities around the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Volunteers will receive a brief orientation introducing new volunteers to the Capital Area Food Bank and detailed description and instructions of the project prior to our session. The minimum requirement to volunteer in their distribution center is 12 years of age, and all volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian and must be accompanied and actively supervised by an adult. How to register: Please email John Veras '11 with your name, Princeton affiliation, and a phone number you can be reached at on Saturday, January 25th. John will be on-site Saturday and will coordinate between the group and the Capital Area Food Bank volunteers. There is a volunteer waiver for the day that you can review and sign onsite.
