PCW Making a Difference through Community Service

Even the COVID-19 pandemic could not interfere with the Club’s annual holiday service project for Friends in Action and Interfaith Works program clients. Interfaith Works collaborates with other nonprofits, faith-based organizations, government organizations and individuals in order to bring an end to homelessness and poverty in Montgomery County, MD. Former PCW president, Jessica Nickel ’98 has been the connection for PCW throughout our 20+ year continuous community service project,

Interfaith Works Director of Family Services Betsy Cheakalos said that in December 2020, we “needed a different type of help and all of you stepped up again.” Jessica organized a donation and materials drive among the PCW community. As a result, PCW members were part of an effort that assisted 337 IW families. We provided supplies for the children to receive fun goodie bags and their parents to get much-needed COVID kits.  A special “thank you” goes to Jessica and her three sons (pictured here) who assembled the holiday treats.
