ABOUT the MUSEUM: Opened in 2006 (and expanded in 2018), this is a unique museum in the Washington, DC "orbit" and offers sought-after tickets that are scarce at all times. (They're offered 2 months in advance.) SITE: 230 acres of woodlands and walking trails, plus indoor space -- all providing an unusual combination of outdoor and indoor experiences. Indoors, its ample space is filled with art (ranging from Johns, Pollock and many more) all surrounded by stunning architecture. The museum just won the 2020 American Institute of Architects Award (given to Architect Thomas Phifer and Partners).

ARTISTS REPRESENTED: Henri Mattisse, Alexander Calder, Sarah Lucas, Christo, Willem de Kooning, Marcel Duchamp, Jasper Johns, Jackson Pollock, Cy Twombly, Ellsworth Kelly (plus many dedicated exhibitions drawn from 1300 pieces).

Tickets are offered to ensure well-spaced time-slots to avoid the bustle and crowding at other museums. This is a museum for enjoying the moment and one allowing you meditative encounters with the art, sculpture and the eye-catching surroundings. It's a treat for the senses.
