José is a financial services innovator who built the Mission Asset Fund (MAF) into an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to integrating financially excluded, low-income communities into the financial mainstream. This work earned Jose the MacArthur Fellowship and Princeton University's Edward P. Bullard Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016. When Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was threatened with termination, MAF leveraged its technology and funder relationships to raise nearly $4.5 million for DACA renewal scholarships for 7,600 Dreamers. You may have heard José speak at the Adelante Tigres conference in 2017. He will be in DC to testify on the Hill and will be attending an event at the Aspen Institute immediately prior to the Happy Hour.
