Princeton Spotlight: Barrett Hazeltine '53 Honored on November 1

The State Society of Rhode Island recognized Princeton alumnus Barrett Hazeltine among its 2018 Leadership Award recipients.


The State Society of Rhode Island hosted its annual Rhode to DC event on Thursday, November 1, 2018 to celebrate Rhode Island in the District! 

Barrett Hazeltine '53 *56 was among the recipients of the SSRI 2018 Leadership Awards. Hazeltine was Professor of Engineering at Brown University. He is now Professor Emeritus but continues to teach at Brown. In 1991-1992 he held the Robert Foster Cherry Chair for Distinguished Teaching at Baylor University. From 1972 to 1992 he was also Associate Dean of the College at Brown. His teaching and research interests are in engineering management, technology planning especially in developing countries, teaching of technology for Liberal Arts students, and digital computers. He is a graduate of Princeton University (BSE - 1953, MSE - 1956) and the University of Michigan (Ph.D. 1962). Read his full biography on the Brown University website.

Distinguished recipients of the 2017 SSRI Leadership Award honorees included Brian D. Goldner, CEO of Hasbro, Inc.; Mark Hellendrung, President of Narragansett Beer; Christian McBurney, Founder of Small State Big History project; and Pat Moran, Development Chair for Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy.
